Regarding Clermont Cathedral: The construction
started in 1248 and was finished in the 19th century.

In some articles the cathedral is mentioned in
conjunction with the first Crusade, however the actual church was an earlier
Romanesque church.
The sacristy is an essential part of the
cathedral and must have been finished early to hold church services. The
ornament is part of the sacristy which I found in the book 'The styles of
Ornament' by Alexander Speltz, being classified as Gothic ornament. Quote:
"....Gothic Style ....originally proceeded from Northern France...In Early
Gothic, in the 13th century, the leaves were nearly always more or less
conventionalized with a slight naturalistic leaning. Later on, the leaves were
produced with more force and energy, becoming finally, in Late Gothic, much
more naturalistic in their form."
Another book of ours 'A History of Art' by H.W.
Janson describes: "Late Gothic architecture and sculpture strive for
picturesque effects rather than clarity and firmness."
According to those two descriptions, we conclude that the flower/star ornament from the Sacristy must resemble Early Gothic about 13th century. Please allow 3 weeks for manufacture, sizing and delivery after receipt of payment. Special requests for custom-made period jewellery can be fulfilled. Jewellery items can be made on request in different materials, e.g.: 9ct, 14ct or 18ct Yellow Gold, White Gold, Rose Gold or Palladium. We prefer to use Palladium White Gold instead of Nickel White Gold Alloys as they are known to cause allergies. Palladium is an expensive heavy metal, so Palladium White Gold is denser and heavier. It is more difficult to process as the melting temperatures are substantially higher. Therefore jewellery in palladium white gold is more expensive than identical pieces in nickel white gold. A White Gold item cannot be tarnished black like Silver. The blackened silver is achieved by oxidizing with alkaline sulphides and highlights added afterwards with a handmade polishing steel. materials we use Please ask for quote depending on current gold price including your delivery address that we can calculate the correct postage.
